Little girls went missing.

It was a dark day for Justin and Mary Bourg’s family. Their daughters, 7-year-old Abigail and 4-year-old Cecilia, went missing with their family to Artemis. There was no sign at their house or in the neighborhood. In Folsom, Louisiana, Justin and Mary Bourg’s worst day started like that. Mary said that feeling of, ‘Oh my gosh, what could happen to them? Where are they?’ In those brief, too-long moments, you begin to feel the worst. It was a mother’s unexplainable sorrow of losing the children she cared for years.

Mother’s pray for the children’s return

The mother posted an urgent appeal on Facebook, stating that the girls had vanished from their property and were carrying their pet golden retriever, Artemis. She claimed that members of the neighborhood and the police were searching for her daughters. She said, please pray that their babies come home safely in the post.

Search for the girls

Authorities and volunteers joined to help the family find their daughters. Authorities used ATVs, drones, and helicopters for the search, but time passed, and they could not find anything. Suddenly the family dog, the golden retriever’s help, was the only way everyone could find where the girls were. Mary stated that when Artemis sensed people approaching, he began to bark, making it much simpler to locate them. The girls were in a deep, dark area of the woods, and without Artemis’s help, it might have been more difficult to find them.

Girls reunited with their father and mother.

After an intense search by local law enforcement and first responders, officers located the girls in the woods near their home. What made this story even more remarkable was the presence of a golden retriever, Artemis, who had stayed by the girls’ side for four hours and had protected them during their ordeal. Mary wrote that he even growled at the police because he protected their babies.

According to the father, Justin Bourg, Abigail was cuddling with Artemis while lying on top of him, gripping his collar, and Cecilia was on Abigail’s stomach as they made themselves comfortable for the night.

He also stated they were roughly three to four hundred yards from their house, and he was thankful that they understood to stay put when they got lost because “Jesus took the reins and gave them some calm and direction.” Mary stated that the dog probably guarded the girls from the local wild hogs while they waited to be found. Artemis was their attentive defender.

Girls were safe, thanks to Artemis.

The girls were fine, but the 4-year-old was stunned by the experience. The parents exhaled a sigh of relief and said that they were taking safety measures to protect their daughters in the future. Justin said that it was tough. He told them that was probably the most he had cried in the last 20 years and that he did not want to traumatize them. He wanted them to keep that adventure mentality and have a head about it and be smart.

Artemis, the loyal golden retriever, showed remarkable loyalty and devotion to the girls in their time of need. He stayed with them, comforted them, and kept them safe. He led the search parties to the girls’ location; without him, they may not have been found as quickly. They thanked Artemis, their hero dog, and everyone who had helped with the search. She still does not want to leave him; Mary wrote in response to a photo of one of her daughters cuddling with Artemis.
